IZA Workshop on Climate and Environmental Economics: Applied and Behavioral Perspectives
About the Workshop
The IZA Institute of Labor Economics is pleased to announce the IZA Workshop on Climate and Environmental Economics: Applied and Behavioral Perspectives. This workshop will bring together leading researchers to explore cutting-edge research on the societal and economic consequences of climate change, as well as essential adaptation and mitigation strategies. Particular emphasis will be placed on applied and behavioral perspectives.
Keynote Speakers
We are delighted to host two distinguished keynote speakers:
- Robert Metcalfe (Columbia University)
- Tamma Carleton (UC Berkeley)
Policy Round Table
In collaboration with the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), we invite policymakers, researchers, NGO representatives, and practitioners to join a policy roundtable on the theme: "Using Rigorous Research to Inform Climate Policy and Public Debate."
The following speakers have already been confirmed:
- Ottmar Edenhofer (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research)
- Kira Vinke (Center for Climate and Foreign Policy, DGAP)
Submission Guidelines
Interested participants are invited to submit full papers or extended abstracts (minimum 3 pages) by March 01, 2025. Submissions should include a clear description of the research question, methodology, and main findings (if available). Please submit your work via the submission form on top of the page.
Notifications will be sent in early April.
Funding and Logistics
There is no workshop fee. IZA will cover accommodation costs for presenting authors. Limited funding for travel expenses may be available upon request.
If financial assistance is needed for travel, please indicate this on the online application form. Selected participants will only be eligible to receive financial assistance if they have indicated this on the application form.
Kindly note that tax regulations prohibit IZA from fully reimbursing travel expenses of conference participants who combine their trip with other destinations or extend their stay beyond the four-day window surrounding the event.
