About the Conference

IZA is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year as a leading international research institution in the field of labor economics.

In honor of this occasion, we invite submissions to the 25th Anniversary IZA Conference in Labor Economics to be held in Berlin on July 5-6, 2023. This conference provides a forum for presenting and discussing the latest research on all aspects of labor economics. We offer slots for about 15 plenary presentations and 10 posters. We encourage submission of high-quality research that advances the understanding of labor economics. The conference is preceded by the IZA Summer School.

The conference will conclude on July 6 with a policy panel about current debates on German labor market policies featuring Hubertus Heil (Federal Minister of Labor and Social Affairs), Monika Schnitzer (Professor of Economics, LMU Munich), Uta Schönberg (Professor of Economics, University College London and IZA) and Jason Furman (Aetna Professor of the Practice of Economic Policy, Harvard Kennedy School).

Submission

Please use the Online Application Form to submit a pdf version of your complete paper. The deadline for submission is March 15, 2023. The submitter is expected to be the presenter of the paper and to be present during the entire conference. Acceptance notifications will be sent by April 5, 2023.

Funding

If you select the option in the online application form, IZA will provide reimbursement for economy class airfare and 3 nights of hotel accommodation for presenting authors (for both plenary sessions and posters). This is only possible if you attend the entire 2-day conference.

Note that tax regulations do not allow IZA to fully cover travel expenses if you plan to visit other destinations or extend your stay beyond the four-day period surrounding the conference.

Before applying, please confirm that your visa status permits you to attend the event.
