About the Workshop

The aim of this workshop is to bring together senior and junior researchers to present and discuss original research examining the link between health and the labor market.

Topics include (but are not limited to):
  • Health and labor market outcomes
  • Determinants of sickness absence
  • Health insurance and the labor market
  • Business cycles and health outcomes
  • Family policies and child health outcomes

Confirmed participants to the workshop include Janet Currie (Princeton University and IZA), Thomas C. DeLeire (Georgetown University and IZA), Michael Grossman and (CUNY Graduate Center and IZA), Pierre-Carl Michaud (HEC Montreal and IZA).
 

Paper Submission

The deadline for submission of complete papers is May 29, 2017.

A selection of papers presented at the workshop will be published in a volume of Research in Labor Economics. It is understood that all submissions to the conference imply submission to the RLE volume. The volume is expected to be published in 2018.

Authors of submitted papers will be notified no later than June 20, 2017 as to whether their paper has been accepted for the workshop. All presented papers can be revised after the workshop and before being submitted for publication to the volume. Publication decisions will be based on a standard peer-reviewing process.
 

Travel and Accommodation

Those authors who are invited are expected to participate in the 2 day workshop. Economy class airfares and 3 nights of lodging for presenting authors and discussants will be covered according to the IZA Reimbursement Guidelines.

Kindly note that tax regulations prohibit IZA from fully reimbursing the travel expenses of conference participants who combine their trip with other destinations or extend their stay beyond the four-day window surrounding the event.
