About the Workshop

In Spring 2020, the spread of COVID-19 sparked an unprecedented public health crisis. More than one year into the pandemic, education systems, parents and students worldwide struggle to adapt to the new normal.
Against this background, IZA and the University of Zurich Jacobs Center for Child and Youth Development organize the 2nd joint workshop on the consequences of COVID-19 for Child and Youth Development. The online workshop brings together researchers for a two-day workshop on September 1st and 2nd, 2021 to discuss topics including:
  • impacts in higher education
  • digitization of learning environments
  • inequality in educational outcomes
  • the development of children’s cognitive and socio-emotional skills
  • parenting behavior
  • crime, violence and delinquency
