too h Parey Matthias Parey is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Essex. He is also a Research Fellow at the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) in London.

Previously, Matthias was a PhD student in the Department of Economics at University College London (UCL) and a PhD scholar at the IFS. His main research interests are economics of education, labor economics, and micro-econometrics.

He completed his undergraduate degree in Economics with Distinction at University of Bonn, Germany, in 2003. He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in March 2007 and became a Research Fellow in July 2015.
