About the Workshop
We are pleased to announce the 5th Annual Workshop on Gender and Family Economics. The focus in 2022 will be on family economics and centered around: "Families as an Insurance Mechanism".
We invite contributions from both senior and junior researchers that focus on the role of families in insuring individuals against downside risk. Potential topics include:
- The role of households in insuring against income risk or health risk
- The trade-off between self-insurance of households vs insurance by social policies
- Spousal insurance (e.g added worker effect)
- Parents’ insurance for their young adult children
- Intergenerational insurance
The workshop will be held online. We are going to combine usual paper presentations and discussions with a new format in which papers of junior researchers are discussed in small groups. The workshop will enable participants to engage in discussions about pressing issues in research and policy around this year’s theme and receive valuable feedback.
Given the anticipated popularity of this workshop, we will not be able to accommodate everyone's request to participate. In fairness, we expect, anyone accepted to the workshop to commit to participating for the full two days.
Submissions
Researchers interested in participating should submit an extended abstract or a full paper by March 15, 2022 using the online application form.
Notifications will be sent by April 15, 2022.
Participation
If you are interested in the workshop feel free to sign up to live-stream the event. We welcome to share this call for papers with other interested researchers.
